The early sixties were the ages of growing cultural independence in the former Yugoslavia. Politicians searched for models beyond Europe while the culture remained more tied to the old places. The pioneers of this cultural boom among artists did not only visit Milan or Rome, they even regularly travelled all the way to Scandinavia. Among those who did not follow the pathos of building realism of Moscow, Paris, Berlin or Belgrade were the Slovenian architects, especially Edvard Ravnikar. In 1960 Professor Ravnikar attempted to introduce a new system of study at the Architectural Faculty in Ljubljana, a system that would be modern and dedicated to architectural design. Miloš Bonča, who graduated in 1958, matured and worked by the side of this well-known creative mind.
